I read this volume for a number of reasons. Although this type of literary work may not normally be considered "popular" reading or a "consumer product", for me this work helped to bridge the gap between the academic and the personal approach to identifying, understanding and treating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in those diagnosed with cancer and suffering many of the physical pains of this disease. It matters little if one is a professional social worker, therapist or physician; this "manual" provides the theoretical substance for better treating patients and their families. Dr. Schwabish is a thorough thinker, a gifted teacher and a compassionate psychologist. His study provides the perfect protocol for everyone responsible for providing care to those diagnosed with cancer. Especially interesting to me is Dr. Schwabish's fundamental understanding and adaptation of previously utilized protocols by the United States Veterans Administration Hospitals to treat patients at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York. I learned a great deal by examining this study - I believe that anyone interesting in comprehensive patient care will as well.Product details
